A landmark development in the heart of Swansea has officially opened its doors, with the First Minister of Wales, local MPs, and senior civic leaders among those in attendance at a high-profile launch event on Thursday 3 July.
The new office and commercial building at 71/72 Kingsway, managed by Savills on behalf of Swansea Council, is a cornerstone of the city’s regeneration strategy. The development forms part of a wider ambition to attract high-growth businesses and foster innovation in South Wales.
While much of the attention was focused on the dignitaries and future economic promise of the site, the smooth delivery of the event itself drew equal praise – and not just from the building’s management.
In the lead-up to the opening, staff from Premier Support Services, who manage both the security and cleaning operations at the site, played a central role in preparing the building for the occasion. From signage and access to presentation and polish, a coordinated effort ensured the space was ready to receive its guests.
“The team were great and all worked for each other. I’m very proud of them all.”
Building Manager Mark Fender.
Premier provides a dual-service contract at Kingsway: a model where one team delivers both soft service lines, including concierge security and cleaning. Staff members including security officers Andrew Browne and Himanshu Kubde, cleaner Rachel Tanner, and front-of-house lead Karim Christie Walters were all present on the day, supporting the event from open to close.
As part of the building’s presentation, one member of staff was even photographed with the Lord Mayor of Swansea during the proceedings.
The opening was described by council representatives as a “fantastic day,” with Elizabeth Morris, representing Swansea Council, saying the building “was at its absolute best.” Colleague Catrin Kim added: “Couldn’t have been done without you,” in a message to the operational team.
Iain Guest, representing Bramfield Asset Management, said: “You and your team did a great job. Hopefully yesterday will act as a catalyst to get the remaining space let.”
That optimism is shared by the building’s management, who are continuing to market the site to potential occupiers.
The event also served as a demonstration of the benefits of integrated service delivery in modern building management. Rather than operating as separate entities, Premier’s team at Kingsway work collaboratively across cleaning, security, and front-of-house roles, allowing for a more agile and consistent approach.
Such models are increasingly favoured in multi-tenant or mixed-use developments where flexibility, presentation, and responsiveness are key to maintaining both security and service standards.
Premier’s Contracts Manager, Steven Bruntnell , thanked the team and noted the pride felt across the company. “So pleased it went well for you and the team on site with all the hard work and preparation,” he said in a message to Mark Fender.
The success of the event appears to have left a lasting impression not just on visitors, but on those who worked behind the scenes. And as 71/72 Kingsway moves into its next chapter, the day’s events are likely to serve as both a symbolic and operational benchmark for what comes next.
