Working Together for a Low-Carbon Future

At Premier, sustainability isn’t a marketing slogan, it’s the way we operate. Every decision we make is shaped by our commitment to a cleaner, greener future. We’ve set ambitious targets: carbon neutrality by 2028 and net zero by 2040. These aren’t distant aspirations. They’re backed by a clear roadmap, measurable milestones, and independent verification through our partnership with Neutral Carbon Zone.

Why? Because facilities management has a critical role in the fight against climate change. We’re responsible for powering buildings, maintaining workplaces, managing waste, and sourcing goods and services — all of which have a direct impact on carbon emissions. By making smarter choices, we can help our clients cut their footprint, improve efficiency, and lead by example.

Our journey and our approach are captured in two new videos, showing not just what needs to change, but how we’re making it happen.

6 Steps to Shrinking Your Carbon Footprint

The built environment is responsible for around 40% of the UK’s carbon emissions. As an FM provider, we’re uniquely placed to influence change quickly — from the buildings we manage to the supply chains we work with.

This short film takes you through six practical, high-impact actions that FM providers (and their clients) can take right now:

  • Switching to LED lighting — cutting energy use by up to 70%, with smart controls delivering a further 20–30% saving.
  • Transitioning to electric vehicles — reducing reliance on fossil fuels for site visits and patrols.
  • Smarter waste management — prioritising reduction, reuse, and recycling across all operations.
  • Local sourcing — cutting transport emissions and supporting local economies.
  • Chemical-free cleaning solutions — protecting both the planet and people’s health.
  • Tackling Scope 3 emissions — working with suppliers to reduce the hidden footprint in our supply chains.

It’s about immediate wins, but also creating long-term change — helping clients meet their own sustainability targets while improving operational efficiency.

Café Conversations: Premier Goes Green!

In this candid discussion, Danni and Alan sit down to talk through sustainability in practice — from boardroom strategies to front-line delivery. They explore:

  • Our commitments: why carbon neutrality by 2028 is realistic, but demands urgency.
  • The challenges: including scaling chemical-free cleaning without compromising quality, and integrating electric vehicles across a diverse contract portfolio.
  • What’s already changing: from product selection and supplier partnerships to data-driven monitoring of energy, water, and waste.
  • Accountability: how Neutral Carbon Zone helps us measure, verify, and report progress so our claims are backed by evidence.

It’s an honest look at what it takes to deliver meaningful change in a complex industry; and why collaboration with clients, suppliers, and our own teams is vital to success.

We know that sustainability isn’t a one-off project. It’s a continual process of improvement. Every site we manage, every supplier we work with, and every decision we take is part of the bigger picture: reducing emissions, protecting resources, and leaving a positive legacy.
